# Inpatient Medicine

## <mark style="background-color:blue;">Mission Statement of the Clerkship</mark>&#x20;

The Inpatient Medicine clerkship provides opportunities for students to interact with and participate in the care of patients with complex, multisystem illnesses in the inpatient setting and across the spectrum of illness progression from stable chronic disease to acute illness, to end-of-life care. The clerkship highlights transitions of care and interprofessional collaboration as essential components of high-quality inpatient medicine. Our mission is to provide a safe, comfortable, exciting, equitable, and just learning environment for our students that both challenges and supports them.

By the end of the clerkship, students will have the knowledge, skills and clinical reasoning ability to be an acting intern and be stewards of safe transitions of care for their patients.
