Awards and Distinctions

There are a few awards and distinctions that are given to students in the summer of 4th year that will be added to the MSPE if received. The descriptions of these are below.

Gold Humanism Honor Society

he Gold Humanism Honor Society recognizes members of the graduating class for their clinical abilities, compassion, and service to their patients. The selected students, nominated by their peers, are chosen specifically for exceptional contributions to care displayed during their clinical rotations. Classmates select honorees who demonstrate superior interpersonal skills, professionalism, dedication to their work as caregivers, and exemplify the qualities that their classmates would wish to encounter in their own physicians.

Distinction in Research

The delivery of outstanding health care depends on progress in medical research, and all students in our MD program engage in scholarly work during their medical education. Students who publish as first author in a scientific journal with an impact factor of 2 or greater, or as second author in a journal with an impact factor of 10 or greater, are recognized with Distinction in Research. This designation honors their commitment to the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge.
