# Methods of Instruction

Teaching on the wards by Residents, Fellows, Attendings and Support Staff (psychiatric nurses, mental health associates, social workers, licensed creative arts therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists). You will learn through:&#x20;

**Observation**

* Watching interview styles
* Attending Group Therapy Sessions
* Attending Family Meetings &#x20;

**Direct work**

* Carrying 3-5 patients at a time, including daily interviews, discussion of symptoms and response to treatment &#x20;
* Collaborating on admission assessments, daily progress notes, and interdisciplinary treatment plans &#x20;
* Calling corroborative sources &#x20;
* Discussing diagnoses and treatment modalities with your team in class&#x20;

**Site specific didactics**

* On-unit teaching rounds and case conferences &#x20;

**Clerkship Didactics** &#x20;

* <mark style="color:green;">**Mondays 2:30-5:30pm, M5 unit for Interviewing Class, Icahn 10-84 for lecture**</mark>
* <mark style="color:green;">**Thursdays 1-5pm**</mark> Annenberg 10-74 (Library) except 2<sup>nd</sup> Thursdays, which will be on Zoom
* Site-specific case conferences
* Grand Rounds (differs by site) On your own
