Pre-clerkship Assessment Policies
Pre-Clerkship Assessment Rescheduling
In the event of an unplanned absence, a planned absence due to major religious holiday observance, or a technical issue, be sure to refer to Taking an Assessment in ASCEND within the ISMMS Medical Student Handbook for guidance on how to request to reschedule a quiz or exam.
Criteria for Passing Exams
A passing grade for exams is 65%.
Criteria for Passing the Module
A passing grade for the module is 65%.
Prior to the determination of a module’s final grade, if a student’s calculated module grade is less than the passing cutoff, the student can have a 2nd attempt at one assessment related to the content competency that is most deficient. Upon completion of the 2nd attempt assessment, the module grade will be recalculated. If the recalculated module grade is at or above the passing cutoff, the module grade is Pass. If the module grade remains below the passing cutoff, the module grade is Fail and the module must be remediated. Students are allowed a 2nd attempt assessment in TWO modules during Phase 1. More details on the policy and procedures can be reviewed in the ISMMS Medical Student Handbook.
